At Kemby, we are committed to creating smart, innovative products that enhance happy family living. Why? Because we have families ourselves. We know that “packhorse parent” feeling all too well and we want to make life easier – for us and for you. We’re constantly looking for innovative solutions that will make things simpler and more fun so we can focus on what’s important: children and happiness. And because looking good is part of feeling good, we design our products to be as beautiful as they are durable, so using them is a joy you can experience over and over again. We look forward to introducing you to more products in the future, each designed to add happiness and ease to your daily family life.

Kemby was founded by two parents, Kimi Boal and Julia Young, whose complementary backgrounds make their partnership ideal for the fulfillment of their company mission: to create smart, innovative products that enhance happy family living.

Kimi brings a unique blend of business acumen and craftsmanship. She is a CPA who, in her pre-Kemby days, worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers – and spent her evenings making and sewing things by hand. “I used to go to Kimi’s house and say, ‘Oh, I like that dress, I like that table, I like that painting, where did you find them?” says Julia. “And Kimi always answered, ‘I made them.’ ”

Julia has always been an idea person – and her background in psychology enhances her unique insight into addressing needs in a new way. Becoming a parent put her into idea overdrive. “Trying to lighten my load, I left my baby carrier at home one day,” she says. “But of course my son wanted to be picked up. I propped him on top of the messenger bag I was wearing and the light bulb went off.”

The Kemby name itself represents Kimi and Julia’s collaboration, as well as their ultimate source of inspiration: their children and families. What does Kemby mean? Nothing – and everything. It is made up of the first initials of Kimi’s and Julia’s kids, and their last names.
